About the Cover

Cover Figure

Cover Illustration: Positive synergistic interaction between nondetergent sulfobetaine (NDSB 201) and bis-mercaptoacetamide cyclohexane (BMC) on Cdc25A refolding identified from a fractional factorial refolding screen. Addition of either NDSB or BMC alone had a marginal effect on Cdc25A refolding efficiency (twofold vs. their absence). Statistical analysis of the refolding data identified a weak synergistic interaction between NDSB 201 and BMC. Refolding was optimized by varying the concentrations of both reagents and led to a 36-fold increase in activity and a solved crystal structure. (See Willis et al., pp. 1818-1826.)
