Cover Illustration: The flavoprotein D-amino acid oxidase (DAO) was first identified by Sir Hans A. Krebs in 1935. DAO from pig kidney has been extensively studied over the past 70 years, becoming a model for the class of flavin-dependent oxidases. The crystal structure of human DAO reported in this issue reveals the context-dependent conformational variability of the VAAGL stretch located at the si-face of the flavin ring, highlighting the unique feature of the human enzyme.
